Installed trial DNN Pivot on DNN 5.6 / MSserver 2008 / IIS7.  Verified site is running in integrated application pool.  Took DNN Pivot default configuration and tried to open DNN Pivot but got the following error:

Error
An unknown error was encountered. Please contact your administrator for more information.

DownloadError

Error parsing http://xxxxxx/xxx/portals/1/publish.cxml?
token=M2d4aEDdpbjdHcVNsUkZoWVJMTmZab0FtS0pN0zE7MTs2MzQNTE3MDAzNzUyNjQ2NjA=

When I first go to the page where I have loaded the DNN Pivot Module I do not see an option to open the DNN Pivot,  only to copy it.  Only if I go into the configuration screen does it offer me the option to view the DNN Pivot.

I copied the DNN Pivot url and placed it into FF and got the following error:

Server Error in '/EVC' Application.

Bottom line is that I love the concept but don't see how to make it work.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

The error relates to Error parsing http://xxxxxx/xxx/portals/1/publish.cxml?

Page 18 in the manual will be your friend here I expect.

Thank you for your prompt response. I have reviewed page 18 and suspect you are correct, except this refers to IIS6 and I am running IIS7.  Additionally, and unfortunately,  I am not well versed on either and am unable to find the equivalent settings in the IIS7 interface.  Can you point me in the right direction?
Thank you,

Dana Richard

Dana,

It is all in the manual. The pages directly before that page, reference the steps needed for IIS 6. Have a read from the section: "Special Requirements IIS 6 (Windows 2000, 2003 Server)" - That should get you going.

Thank you again for your response.  However,  my problem is with IIS7, not IIS6.  The interfaces have changed and I suspect that some of the nomenclature has changed as well.  I have tried to apply the instructions for IIS6 to IIS7 but the problem continues, and I am not confident that I have made the proper changes in the proper places.

Have a look at this thread for some suggestions. the CXML error is basically saying that IIS is failing to handle that extension correctly. The solution is found in ensuring that IIS is configured to run cxml correctly.

There are some other good threads on the MS forums about this, but this one looked like a good solution.
